AUSTIN FREIGHT (AFS) made its entry into the world May 20, 1996 with just two employees and a dream to be one of the best third party logistics company in the nation. An “Austin Original”, the company was founded by Mr. Brian Sutton and Mr. George Copeland, two industry veterans with over 78 years of experience combined in trucking and transportation logistics. Both owners have considerable experience as pioneers in LTL freight consolidation prior to the opening of AFS.
One of the owners, George Copeland, was the first Certified Transportation Broker to exist in Austin. This year marks the freight logistics company’s 20th year in the industry.

The company’s primary mission is to provide first class transportation and freight solutions at the lowest cost to customers while also providing employees with a long term stable working environment. What sets this business apart from its competitors is the 20 years of experience they have under their belt across many freight spectrums. AFS is doing business right, with a proven track record in customer service and competitive pricing, the company saw an increase in revenue of 14.7% in 2015 and 200% over the past ten years.

AFS started with just four customers in the beginning and has a lifetime customer list of 1,000+. The company also has a carrier base of 10,000 different trucking companies nationwide with 8,000 truckloads moved alone last year.  The future looks bright for this company with currently over 300 shippers using the logistics brokerage last year alone. As AFS has grown, so has customer loyalty as evidenced by long-standing customers which have been with the company since its founding in 1996.

What’s next for AFS?
The freight brokerage will be moving into a brand new $2.4 million dollar building in South Austin at the end of this year or beginning of next year (2017).  The two AFS owners, Mr. Sutton and Mr. Copeland, have invested in this property along with other real estate ventures around town. The new building for Austin’s headquarters will be able to eventually house up to 55 logistics coordinators and dispatchers along with admin. Austin Freight currently has 14 employees, with a headquarters in South Austin and a branch office in Chicago. With increase in sales, the company foresees expansion and the new building will be spot-on for timing with growth. The new building address will be located at: 11206 South IH-35, Austin, Texas 78652.
